• We expect Buffalo Seminary graduates to take their place as leaders and citizens in a rapidly changing world. At SEM, every girl matters. In small classes, our students are encouraged to expand their skills in science, math, and technology. They develop the confidence to think about, write, and debate their point of view. They speak at morning meeting; they lead the clubs and organizations; they dance, sing, and act; and they push themselves on the sports fields. They are involved and they give back to their communities. For the past decade, research has confirmed that girls experience success and gain confidence that lasts a lifetime when they attend a single-sex school. SEM graduates offer strong examples of the leadership, scholarship, and service components that are part of their background. Our alumnae also speak of the talented teachers who encouraged them and of the great friends they made who remain a part of their lives. A SEM education is an investment in a girl's future.

SEM is proud to be an independent, day and boarding, all-girls school with an international focus that promotes academic excellence and personal growth. We encourage all of our students to develop a mature global awareness and to be leaders in our multicultural world. Since 1851, SEM has been at the forefront of girls-only education. In 2009, we became the only all-girls independent school in Western New York with both a day and a boarding program. SEM students come from different parts of our city, our region, and the world.
